When I Grow Up I Want To Be.

When I Grow Up I Want To Be.
By Angelina Gutierrez

When I was a kid I used to say, "When I grow up I want to be." Then while I wasn't paying attention, one day, childhood snuck away from me and suddenly I found myself up. I wasn't as prepared as I would like to have been. Who am I kidding? I wasn't prepared at all. I looked out into the world and for the first time I took notice of the pressures that lay before me. They're everywhere. Pressure to act, pressure to try, pressure to follow, pressure to become. The list is too long. Even though no one ever has to really say a word because we have enough criticism within ourselves to pressure us for a lifetime. It's true we are the hardest on ourselves than anyone else.

It's hard enough trying to be still for five minutes when drive-thru's and microwaves aren't fast enough anymore. Suddenly life has become a race and we've fallen into the trap of comparing. But to who's standard? And are standards supposed to change? Because every time I turn around the world has a new set. Loose morals. That's what they are. It's whatever feels comfortable; whatever feels good. It's being spread across the entire earth like a sick disease, and the killer? Conformity.

And then there's disappointment. It likes to walk by your side when you hit that age when you're not where you pictured yourself to be twenty, ten, or five years ago. That's when you have to learn to ease up on yourself and make contentment your friend because no matter how many years we live, we still have a while to go. And no matter how many struggles, sufferings or mistakes we go through we still have a lot more of those coming our way too. So after all is thought through you reach a point where you realize that "In God We Trust" really wasn't just a nice quote to decorate our money. There were those that believed it to the core of their being and died knowing that no matter what changed, their God never would.

I'll be turning thirty in 51 days and yesterday someone asked me, in all seriousness, what I want to be when I grow up. At first I laughed at the feeling I got of being a kid again. I haven't been asked that question for about fifteen years. It got me thinking though. No matter how many times I didn't meet my expectations there's always been room for another chance. I've just recently come to realize that age is not the issue. The issue is we can be whatever we want to be, and we can start today by working towards it, never conforming to what we don't believe in and putting our trust in God.

Now it works!

Now it works!!!

I gotta find out what is going on. I mean when I post my "blogs" on Multiply and Friendster, they work out fine. That reminds me, my Friendster is like growing stale as I am focusing more of my time here.

I guess that is because there is a possibility of me making money here then there. And I can now just hear my Internet Marketing Guru: Mr Stuart Tan chastising me that IM is not about the money. It is how I can create more value in others from it. Or something to that effect.

Alright!

Out with the old man and in with the new guy! I can think of dozens of IM projects at the top of my head NOW! Like "Changing Alief" or "Alief... the changed man" or "A life in constant change" etc etc.

Hmmm....

Cheers! =)

A!

Blog Problems?!

Hmmm.....

"Is there something wrong with me?"

It seems that whenever I post a new entry on my blog, it doesn't get published. Strangely, my aliefbfl.blogspot.com gets published easily. For alief72.blogspot.com, it is an entirely new dimension. It is like I have to run PUBLISH several times to get it up. In some instances, it doesn't work!

ARGH!

My Mac iBook

"You are using a Macintosh? Wow!"

I remembered when I attended a seminar: Jumpstart to Internet Profits at AKLTG(Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group), someone commented on my choice of using the Apple iBook. Specifically, he asked if the iBook running the Mac OS X was a better 'platform' compared to the 'others' that is running on the Microsoft Windows OS.

Well.... to be honest.... I chose the iBook I wanted to be with the "IN" crowd.

I wanted to be the cool looking dude using this cool looking thing attracting cool looking stares from cool looking people.

As I type this in this eating place that provides free broadband internet access, I got a few admiring glances from two women across the table. In my heart, I must be getting admiring comments as they gaze at my direction ever so often.

However, when I am asked why the iBook, I simply explain that: "I have been using the Windows OS platform for a decade and I decided to stretch myself by using a platform that is supposedly more stable and more superior."

Ha ha ha....

Actually, (come to think of it), I believe that it is a mixture of both. I wanted the attention and also the "better" computer. If someone had successfully installed a LINUX OS in a notebook and has EXCELLENT after sales support, I think I would have bought that.

At the same time, I believe that I had bought a UNIX based machine and the UI(User Interface) is a Mac OS X.

Now, I also want to challenge myself that I can be successful in my foray into Internet Marketing using an iBook. I have heard of Vic Johnson who used his DELL notebook and setup a very successful internet business: www.asamanthinketh.net

He also has this cool website that will send you daily motivational quotes into your emailbox: www.mydailyinsights.com

So, for me, I want to do something similar. Where others are using their Windows OS instelled machine, I'm using my iBook. Of course there are some challenges as there are IM(Internet Marketing) tools that is written for the WinOS, and still, I have found other pretty decent ones that still does the same.

Hey, when someone sees a problem, I actually see a bussiness possibility. I believe that is the writer of the program writes for the Windows market, I bet he would be able to get more business when he writes for the Macs market. (Heh heh heh....)

Before, I sign off, someone asked me if the iBook is better than the 'others' because of WinOS security problems? Well, I found this article from the website courtesy of friends from www.hardwarezone.com who forwarded this article from http://www.reviewdesk.com

They touch on the security aspect of Mac OS X and how to enable it to be more safer.

http://www.reviewdesk.com/articles/macvsxp/page1.htm

Also, at the end of that article, there is a free downloadable file from the NSA on how to improve on Mac OS X Security Configuration.

Cheers! =)

A Life Successful

Arrrgh!!!

Sometimes I ask myself is wanting to live a Life Successful really worth it? Of course I know that the answer to the question is a definite: “Y-E-S”!

Yet, I am faced with so much ‘challenges’ that I feel that I am slowly suffocation under all of the ‘pressure’. I feel that going back to the Life Ordinary is what I should be deserved.

BUT!

I know that I should live my Life Successful and that all that I am facing is a part and parcel of that decision. I know that nobody becomes Successful without paying a particular price.

Take for example my dream of becoming a BODYCOMBAT instructor has finally come true. It is a personal goal that I had set for myself when I had graduated from POE Whoosh!14 in May 2004 and only now had I finally gotten that goal in the bag.

Now, you may be asking: “Is this a pattern?” That my goals seem to go thru some kind of delay before it is manifested into being true?

Hmmm….

Anyways, I understand that there is a need for me to set things right. There is so many things that I want to do and (really) I am not sure where I should start.

The saying goes: “Just start from somewhere.” And things will somehow work its way true.

So, guys! Today I am writing this journal as a beginning of a chapter and also of a commitment that I want to keep a journal of my Life Successful so that I have a track record of what I have done and what I have achieved and what is left to do.

From a quick look of this journal, I feel that there is a lot of things that I am not satisfied with. And I believe that is my ‘pattern’ and I am committed to break that pattern so that I change to become a person who makes a difference in other peoples’ lives!

So, everyday, I shall spend at least 5 minutes to update my REALLY dead blog with things that matters to me.

What the...

Guys!

I realize that I have found the missing key in my secret to success!

It is called WILLINGNESS!

W-I-L-L-I-N-G-N-E-S-S

It appears that you can go to every Motivational Seminars/Workshop/Mastermind Group etc BUT if you are missing this "missing key", I bet that no amount of anything successful will come to be.

Time and time again I have questioned myself: "Hey! What the... why am I still here?"

When I mean "here", I mean to say: When am I going to become Financially Successful. AND when I mean Financially Successful, I mean to say that I want to be able to:

  1. Do whatever I want,
  2. Do it whenever I want,
  3. Do it however I want,
  4. Do it with whomever I want, and
  5. Why do it (in the first place).

Some of you may be wondering what is the IT that I am talking about. "IT" friends is to do the things that I enjoy the most. The things that I have GREAT PASSION to do the most.

Of course, "IT" is going to be:

  1. Ethical
  2. Legal and
  3. Morally right

How I came to the conclusion to WILLINGNESS is because I went to a website and read a really good article about it. I cannot remember where I have placed this article BUT I remember that the article is from the website: MyDailyInsights.com

I love this website because it will place a short motivational/inspirational quote that provides something positive to focus on that day. Here's an example:

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters
compared to what lies within us." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

That's it. Short and simple. Less than 30 seconds to read and internalize. But, oh
how powerful in helping us to keep each day and each challenge in perspective.

So go to this URL: http://tinyurl.com/hpr3y and it'll take you the website that'll
ask you to fill a form you will be getting Inspirational Quotes in your mailbox. I apologise as you will have to cut and paste or manually type the URL.

You know, I have yet to still get the hang of Blogger because I am using an iBook running Win OS X and the EDITOR is very cumbersome to use!

I find others like http://multiply.com and http://friendster.com easier to use!

All the best to your success!!

A!
